Obama: Want to blame someone for AIG bonuses?

On Wednesday President Obama said that he will take responsibility about controversial bonus for AIG executives when AIG took $ 173 billion in bailouts.

“We did not draft this contract. We have got a lot on our plate. But it is precisely when your power is not going to make sure things like this,” said Obama at town hall meeting in Costa Mesa, California. Obama’s comments come just more than an hour after Chairman of Senate Banking Committee [Senator Christopher Dodd] told that he was responsible for the language added to the federal stimulus bill to ensure that the existing contract to receive the bonus in the company’s federal bailout money that is respectable. Both Dodd and the official said that administration officials fear the government will face many lawsuits without the new language.

Obama said at the town hall meetings that he was outraged at AIG executive bonuses that have been received, while the company has been getting tremendous support from the taxpayer to keep the doors open. “To all the people in Washington who are busy scrambling trying to figure out how to blame other people, just forward and speak to me, because I work to ensure that we improve messes even if I do not make them,” Obama said. Kabul, Afghanistan – On Wednesday, General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer [NATO Secretary] said an additional four battalions [some 4,000 troops] were needed to provide security for Afghan elections in August. There are 17,000 U.S. troops and around 70,000 foreign soldiers in Afghanistan are due in the country over the year.

According to the Afghan constitution the presidential election is to be held in spring but the date was postponed until August due to the Afghan winter and to give foreign troops enough time to ensure security.

NATO commanders have been urging member states to send temporary deployments to secure the elections but had not previously given any numbers.

As the third largest troop contributing nation in Afghanistan, Germany has already committed 600 extra troops for Afghanistan Election. Current day, Germany contribute 3,500 soldiers that placed in Afghanistan.

Violence in Afghanistan is at its highest levels since the U.S.-led invasion in late 2001.Based on United Nations data, some 5,000 people, including more than 2,000 civilians, were killed in fighting last year alone.

British Business Secretary Attacked by Custard

In London (England), 29 years old woman arrested by police for her action throwing a custard on one of government employees. The victim was Peter Mandelson, the Business Secretary for British. The act was a protest against the expansion of London’s Heathrow Airport. Plane Stupid, a group that opposes airport expansion and aviation-related climate change, identified her as protester Leila Deen.

The Stimulus is Working

On Tuesday, President Barack Obama said that the country is already “seeing shovels hit the ground” in the first project to repair infrastructure funded through the Department of Transportation U.S. $ 787 billion stimulus bill.

Ray LaHood (Transportation Secretary) said: “The work starts today in Montgomery County, Maryland, where the crew of a work from one project to resurface the Maryland State Highway 650 – a very busy road, which has not been fully repaired in 17 years.”

The repaving of the contract will be a family business based in Pennsylvania, the infrastructure of America, said LaHood. He said the project will support 60 jobs. “And this is how we will get the country back on its feet,” said LaHood.

Barack Obama Has Defended Economic Stimulus Plan

The Senate was holding a rare session Saturday to discuss a wall-down version of the original $ 900bn (£ 612bn) plan to revive the U.S. economy flag.

Obama praised Senate Democrats and moderate Republicans try to reach the proposed compromise.

The Senate is now expected to vote on the bill early next week.

Senior Democrats, with support from some Republicans, agreed on Friday to support a version of the bill of $ 780bn (£ 528bn), instead of the $ 900bn sought by the president.

Most Senate Republicans said they oppose the bill, however, said much of the spending was unwarranted and would impose a crushing burden of debt on future generations.

Obama Administration’s Goal of 1 Million Plug-in Electric Vehicles

Meeting of the Obama Administration’s goal of 1 million plug-in electric vehicles on the road by 2015 will only come with a coordinated set of policies and technological advances, according to an electric vehicle partnership .

The Association of Electric Transport Unit (EDTA) on Tuesday is expected to release a set of policy recommendations to initiate what the automotive industry executives call a major technological change of gas only for electric cars.

EDTA members include manufacturers of automotive battery business, a number of power plants and other industry associations.

The group is pushing for policies to promote domestic industry, fund research, and launch large-scale testing of electric vehicles. He said tax incentives, now offer consumers up to a $ 7500, depending on size of the battery, should be extended to a larger number of private cars and fleet purchases.

Obama Visit Hawaii Sea Life Park

Waimanalo, Hawaii – A vacationing President-elect Barack Obama slipped away from the pool of traveling press that follows him wherever he goes, taking her two young daughters, family members and friends at Sea Life Park in Hawaii.

The group caught a dolphin show on Friday before visiting a touch pool and the sea lion exhibit, where food is the time.

In addition to daughters Sasha, 7, and Malia, 10, the group included Obama of the half-sister Maya Sotero-Ng, her husband, daughter and friend Eric Whitaker.
